How to keep my blog updated
How I did it: I started blogging back in 2002 when I got into reading other people's blogs. Somewhere along the line it seemed like a good idea to start my own. AT first my posts were sporadic, and aimed mainly at my friends who would read, but later on I started using as a diary of sorts, not caring about my readers so much as using it to get things off my chest.
I started out without a blogging client, editing HTML directly, then moved to Blogger when it first came out. After about two years, I moved to a WordPress install on my own web hosting with my own domain name. There've been a few months where I slacked off a bit, but I've been pretty good about posting every few days throughout the years.
Lessons & tips: Once you get into the habit, it gets a lot easier.Just tell yourself you'll write about different things that interest you- maybe Mondays you'll write your thoughts on a current event, and Thursdays you'll write about your week in general. Just start writing, it only gets easier.
If you're trying for a certain audience, look at other blogs that have that audience already, and see what they've got in common. Study them.
And comment on other blogs regularly. It does help drive traffic to your blog when people see intelligent or interesting opinions posted elsewhere.
