How to learn Japanese

How I did it: First I took a year and a half of Japanese classes in community college, for the basics. I kept the textbooks and do the exercises in them occasionally. But the books aren't everything. After I got the basics down I started reading easy Japanese fiction and comics, and using internet communities designed to help you learn languages. I live in the Bay Area, so sometimes I go shopping in Japantown and small talk with other people who speak Japanese.

Resources: www.lang-8.com is a blog community that allows people from all over the world to read and correct your blogs. You can write your blogs in Japanese, and they will correct them. In turn you can help Japanese people write better English.
www.iknow.co.jp is great for boosting your vocabulary. Use their online flash card program a few times a day to have better skills in speaking, understanding, and writing.
