How to go to the ballet
How I did it: My daughter took ballet classes at school. The teacher was part of the City Ballet Company and offered free tickets to "The Nutcracker" during the Christmas season.
Lessons & tips: Ballet is one of those things that are magical! The performances and settings are as much part of it as the dancers themselves.
You must have a great appreciation for art and understand all the work that goes into putting a performance.
Children usually don't appreciate it as much unless they are exposed to it and develop an interest early in life.
Females are more prone to like ballet than men, but those males who do, are cultured, confident, and love to explore new horizons! (Good catches!)
Dress nicely!! Most people who attend ballet on a regular basis dress up and wear their nicest clothes.
Don't be caught wearing jeans and sandals!
I wore a nice outfit and even then, I felt under dressed for the occasion!! Everyone around was wearing designer outfits and even the little girls were wearing evening gowns!!
Resources: Look at your local community colleges, universities, etc for performances from their arts departments. They would not be as expensive as the big productions and are a good way to get yourself acquainted with ballet.
