How to design & create my own planner/journal
"A long time goal that I finally accomplished in just two weeks...YAY!"
How I did it: When it comes to creating journals, I start from the inside out from selecting the paper to designing the inner pages. For this particular journal, I decided to create the following pages:
- Monthly Calendar
- Monthly Goal Sheets
- Health & Fitness log
- Home Maintaince List
- Wish List
- Website Goals/Planning
- Ideas
- Daily/Weekly Goal Sheets
- Prayers/Affirmations
Once all the inner pages are designed and printed out, I started to work on the outer covers by using mat board scraps cut to size. Then I use a wide variety of materials to decorate the covers from metallic paint to handmade paper. Once everything is dry, I varnish the covers to provide durability and then as a final touch, I added metal corners.
Lessons & tips: Start with a blank notebook to see what works for you. Once you fill a notebook or two, look through the pages to see what you like to keep track of. Then if you're willing to invest in binding equipment or learn how to bind your own book, you can take it to the next level.
