How to read one book a month
How I did it: I got a library card! Not only was I surprised at the selection, the library seems to have made some great technological advances since the last time I stepped foot in one... like online accounts and self-checkout. Having to either renew or return books every three weeks or so is a good force-reminder to read them. Over the past four months I've read two Haruki Murakami books, Graham Greene's The Quiet American, and book of mountaineering stories called Kiss or Kill. Every time I go to the library now I find something new to read, and I'm glad I finally rekindled a good old habit.
Resources: Use your local library. Your tax dollars are paying for it already.
