How I did it: I spent about a week convincing my parents to let my get an acoustic guitar, once i did, my dad and i wetn out to the guitar center and bought a fairly nice one. I just looked up tabs, and chord books and such, and played everyday as much as possible, and i'm still not amazing but i can play. I love itt. !

Lessons & tips: At first, its awkward, but you'll get used to it. And before your fingers calis up, they're going to hurtt! but play through it it'll make the process faster.
