"A magical, surreal experience."
How I did it: I went with my family. We packed so much into 1 week that it feels like we were there for 2 weeks but we had so much fun!!
It's funny, New York itself is exactly how you would imagine it to be as you see it everywhere in movies and TV but at the same time it is so beautiful and surreal and I loved looking up at the tall buildings towering over you, discovering the little villages and shopping streets like Canal Street and Greenwich Village. There is always somewhere new to eat, I particularly loved the food at the Thai restaurants and the little bakeries for breakfast. The exchange rate was awful (coming from the UK) so it was pretty expensive for us but it didn't stop us at all. Everyone was so friendly too!
It was fantastic going to Carrie Bradshaw's 'flat' and visiting the famous Magnolia Bakery; we also spent some time on the big piano Tom Hanks plays on in his movie 'Big' which is in FAO Schwarz. That was so much fun. I would've liked to have done the Sex and the City tour but we didn't have enough time. Ahh, it was amazing, I am definitely going back some time!
