How I did it: After my divorce, I decided to go into full savings mode. I knew I never wanted to be in debt again. I simply forced myself to automatically transfer my paycheck into my 401k and several savings accounts.

Lessons & tips: Just start doing it. If you don't, there will always be a reason not to.
