How to get my motorbike CBT
How I did it: My boyfriend gave me a voucher for a CBT for Christmas, with the school where he'd passed his bike licence the year before. I booked a date and for various reasons got very upset and even more nervous, fell off and decided not to take the road test. I did, however, book myself right back in for a date two weeks on. Feeling much calmer and more confident, and reminding myself that it's training not a test, I passed ! From never driving anything at all to being fairly competent on a 125cc motorbike in the space of 2 days. Not bad ! The road test was scary as anything, since having traffic-awareness thrown into the long, long list of things to remember to do was a big change. But cruising at 50mph on an open road ? Totally worth it. Totally.
Lessons & tips: Stay calm, and try not to work yourself up. It's only training. Listen carefully to the instructors and do as they say, step by step. From having fallen off myself, there is no better place or time to do so, and once you have fallen off, then it's done. But be careful !
