How I did it: I was lucky to live in Sweden for five years and lucky enough to have met a Swedish friend. Interacting with her improved my Swedish and learnt by doing.

Lessons & tips: It depends on what learning environment you find most helpful - some people are good in a classroom, others find it better in speaking out loud and having a conversation (learning by doing)
