How I did it: Bought a house and moved in by myself. I love where I live now, but do get lonely at times. I'd rather buy a cat then have another roommate though.     

Lessons & tips: If you can't afford to live somewhere, don't just stay there because it's cool or that's where your friends are. Keep your money in your own pocket rather than your landlord's.
