COOL. I’ve written songs, and I really want to put melody in ‘em. I’m in the process of learning guitar. Can’t wait to actually play it properly and create my own music with it. Heh.
How to record an album
How I did it: It took me several months to write all the songs. Then I recorded them on my MacBook using GarageBand. This took several months.
I spent a year promoting and playing gigs around Seattle and a few in other parts of the US. It was such an amazing experience. I met awesome fellow musicians, sold a bunch of CDs, and truly enjoyed myself.
My CD is for sale on iTunes and CDBaby.com. It gives me a thrill to see it there and know I created it.
Lessons & tips: Play around with recording software (like GarageBand) or buy a 4-track machine. Just have a good time and practice your instrument as much as you can. Then go to CDBaby.net and get lots of tips. When the CD is finished, call up the places you want to play and then get out there and perform your songs. It's the best way to sell your CD. And it's fun!
Resources: CDBaby.net is the best place to start.
Comments:
I have a question. How did you get the permission to use “Girls just wanna have fun?” I wonder because I also want to make a cover on CD Baby and, stupidly (is that a word?), the only thing holding me is that I really want that song on my album.
Thanks for the help!
