How to donate blood
How I did it: Being at college makes it easier to donate blood - the blood drives come to me. Every couple of months (or however long they have to wait), a blood drive is established in the basement of a local church, and I just head over after class. I've only had one bad experience there (and I've probably given about 7 times) - the lady kept moving the needle and eventually went through the vein, which resulted in a monstrous bruise. I only regret it because they didn't get enough blood to keep the bag.
Lessons & tips: - Always have a meal in your stomach, whether it's breakfast or lunch. You might think you're tough and you can handle the blow, but donating blood can make you pretty weak.
- You don't HAVE to watch the needle go in.
- Always chat to the little old people who bring you snacks afterward. They're always so happy. xD
