How to have an afro
How I did it: i just wash my hair, get out of the shower in like 8 braids, unbraid one, put lots of conditioner on one braid, and brush through it with a denman-type brush. then, i separate the curls and smooth them by running my hand over each. i do the same thing for the other 7 braids. then i have lots of afro curls all over my head. i jump back in the shower and let the shower steam hit my hair, and voila, i have a curly fro. it's pretty awesome.
Lessons & tips: don't give up! the first few days i felt self conscious, because i felt like people were looking at me (they might have been), and i didn't know what they were thinking. but then i kept doing it, and everybody loved it! people randomly walk up to me and tell me how much they love my hair! some of them even ask if it's real. (it's big, but not huge).
it's a site for people with very tighly curled hair, not just biracial hair. the site is owned by a biracial woman named Terri, and she has lots of tips and good info... check it out!
excellent site for people who are trying to understand their natural (UNpermed) hair. no pressing, straightening, or heat of any kind allowed here! and NO RELAXERS!
this girl has really pretty hair, and it's obvious that she's learned what works for her. i find the henna section very helpful. she also began a thread on another site:
the thread is about henna, and everyone seemed to be getting awesome results!
