How to fill up my passport before it expires
It made me 
"I assume it counts if you have to delay your flight a day to buy extra pages..."
How I did it: by traveling a lot. to places that need visas. visas are key for filling things up. Don't wait to get new pages in your passport because that is annoying. I am glad to have done it, but it's not that satisfying in the long run since I just had to buy extra pages...
