How to earn a masters degree by sylviama

"My mother was right, no one gives a shit about a masters in archaeology."

How I did it: I stopped procrastinating. I had to learn to write what the academics like to hear rather than I what really thought. I  criticized everyone in my essays. I wrote in such vague terms, it appears I'm not really saying anything at all. Basically, I sold my soul to the devil. 

Lessons & tips: Don't go into academia if you're not prepared to do everything listed above.

I Have a BA in anthro......

...big f-ing deal. The only way a degree in anthro/archeo is if you get that PhD—and if you want to teach AND publish or perish (if you want tenure) great….but I decided that wasn’t the route I wanted, until it was too late. So now I just can’t wrap my head around what I want a MA/MS in, or maybe an MFA. How old is too old for med school? I would have been a great doctor; I read med journal and the PDR for fun! Plus, I don’t care about the money; I would be one of those docs who treat as many people as possible for free. But I’m pretty sure I’m too old. I know it used to be age 40, but I saw 40 awhile ago. Sigh.
