How to get accepted to the college of my choice
How I did it: I searched for schools, came across one that I was really intrigued by and looked into it more. Then I developed an email correspondence with the school's counselor, filled with my questions about the school and requests the school's materials (e.g. school publications, student newspaper, etc.) I then met the college fair representative whenever they came near my town and received more information about the school and told the representative about my goals. I also visited the school and stayed overnight, which was a cool experience. Then I got my application together, sent it in, and prayed about it. I prayed that if it was in God's will that I would be accepted and go on to do great things for His people. A couple of months later I was notified that I had been accepted. Woo! I thanked God and officially became a happy college student. :)
Lessons & tips: I would definitely tell anyone applying to college to seriously not wait. You want to make sure that all of your materials are together and on point, but you also want to be proactive to show that you care. I applied much earlier than "at the last minute" but I think I should've applied sooner after my visit to the school, it shows that you really do care about going to that school (especially if it's your first choice!) I'd also say don't stress out, use your resources well, especially guidance counselors and career counselors if your high school has one. Don't be afraid to ask questions about the application process and don't be afraid to ask questions about college in general/ what to do once you've been accepted. This is your future so there's nothing wrong about acquainting yourself with how it will go! ;)
