How I did it: Educated myself then decided to use a realtor (family friend) because houses were gone in a hot hot hot market before I had a chance to see them.
Then decided to use a newer to the industry realtor (younger) who was driven and enjoyed her job. If anyone needs the name of a realtor in Regina SK I have rave reviews about the one I used and she didn't become a friend until after we had made our purchase. The market has since dramaticly cooled but I would have no issues with using this realtor again.
Lessons & tips: Buy private if you can and know enough about how to do it. If the market requires, use a real estate agent and get yourself somebody that will work for you and not for themselves.
