How I did it: Applied through UCAS - my school gave me a REALLY good reference (which I read through) and my personal statement must have been proof read about 50 times. I got 5 teachers to look through it as well as my parents, friends and someone I know who is currentely doing a similar course at university.
Eventually got offers from all 5 of my choices, so now I just have to get the grades and decide where I want to go.

Lessons & tips: Get a good reference
Spent a LOT of time and effort on your personal statement and get a variety of opinions from different people.
