How to join the Peace Corps by toastytoast

How I did it: The application process (from online application to departure) took about a year.  Check your medical forms before you send them into Peace Corps!!  My first invitation to East Timor was taken back because the program was evacuated before I left the US.  I ended up in Ukraine.

Lessons & tips: Be patient.  Be flexible.  (Really.  I know you've heard this already, but it's important.)  Lower your expectations and standards for a "successful" service.  Enjoy the little things.
