How to ride in an airplane
How I did it: I was moving to Canada and I don't know how to drive. I sold all of my worldly possessions that couldn't be fit or taken on an airplane and packed what I could into boxes and suitcases and headed for Canada.
Lessons & tips: I've been on an airplane many times since and I would recommend bringing a few things:
-
A pillow -
A few good books (depending on how long your flights are and how fast of a reader you are) -
A positive attitude. This is REALLY important for those long-haul trips.
Also, some airlines have cut soft drinks and meals from the cost of their menus. Either bring extra cash or find out from the airline themselves. Or, better still, buy what you think you'll need after the security checkpoint at the airport. Any food you bring before that point may be discarded by security staff and any bottled drinks may need to be left behind.
