How I did it: Once I was able to recognize that I am transsexual, than I started to tell people simply because I was through with hiding. I was also not going to let anyone talk me back into denial. Remember, you have to have a strong will to do this and don't put up with anyone's homophobic bullshit.

Lessons & tips:

  • If you can't handle being 100% out, than choose to be out to those you most care about.
  • If they are unwilling to accept you as you are, than what kind of people can these be?
  • Be prepared to lose those who aren't so mature about sexuality. Remember that this country still has the scars of having been based on Judeo-Christian "values" for so long. Homophobia is rampant in this country, even to this day, so be aware.

Are you transsexual or...

homosexual? What is the difference? I always thought transsexual was when you had surgery to change your gender. Am I wrong? I’m just trying to understand what you’re dealing with.

The difference is that I am having hormone replacement therapy and surgery to correct my body so that it aligns more with my gender (female). That’s it, really.

Remember, sex is what you have physically, but gender is mental. While I may have a male sex, I have a female gender. And I’m having SRS to change my physical anatomy to that of a woman. Hopefully, hormones will also result in breast development. Hopefully.
