How I did it: I went on a vacation with my parents when I was little.  It was a really rewarding experience and I loved the history.  It doesn't hurt my parents footed the bill as well.

Lessons & tips: There are homeless people everywhere, don't feel sorry for them.  It sounds horrible, but a lot of people will pick pocket off of you.
