How to jump on a trampoline
How I did it: Many years ago I used to care for someone who had Multiple Sclerosis. She used to go to Physical Therapy twice a week at SDSU. The students there provided people with disabilities with physical therapy and it would count towards their degree.
Since there was nothing for me to do for an hour and a half, I usually would walk around campus, go to the library, hang in the gardens, etc.
In the same building where the students provided Physical therapy there was a room that, now that I think back, it probably was the gymnastics department.
It was HUGE it had gigantic trampolines, bars, rings, and a pool filled with sponges.
One day while waiting for the therapy to be over, I realized that the gigantic room with the trampolines was open and empty. I walked in and the moment I saw the trampolines I knew I had to try them!! They were HUGE!! I mean really, really big!! Much bigger than those they sell for backyards!! Maybe 3 or 4 times the size of one of those!!
I took off my shoes, climbed and began jumping!
It was the most amazing feeling in the world!! I got so high up in the air I even began to feel afraid I was going to land the wrong way and brake my neck, but I jumped, and jumped so very, very high!! It was amazing!! I remember laughing like a kid while I was jumping higher and higher!!
Then I remember going to the foam pool and jumping in over and over!! I would take off running and jump!! Landing among the sponges was super cool and I had tons of fun doing cartwheels and cannonballs in there!!!
Eventually I got so wind up and out of breath I decided to stop because otherwise it would look suspicious if I got back to the therapy room and look like if I had just ran a marathon!!
I never again was lucky enough to find the room unlocked, so I never got to do it again, but I will never forget the feeling of being way up in the air and looking at everything below thinking that it was great to jump like if I was 5 years old!!
Lessons & tips: Years later, once big trampolines where made available for anyone to buy and put in their backyard I found out that indeed, you can get seriously hurt while jumping in one of those! I am sure glad I didn't end up being hurt, but I could feel that the possibility was quite real!! Specially when you are so way up high and can't control your body really well. YouTube is filled with videos of things that go wrong with trampolines, so I am glad that I got to try it and live to tell!! ;)
Resources: I really can't tell you about resources on this subject since mine was a "Once in a lifetime" kind of experience, but I know that like everything out there, exercise caution and have fun!
