How I did it: I started out thinking that maybe chess club might work. It didn't. The people there were simply too intense and focused on beating me, not helping me.
So i then set of in search of a different way to learn chess, i bought a board, but ended up putting it in my basement because no one in my family knew how to play. So finally, i got a chess game for a phone and i played it in my spare time as well and searching the web for "how to play chess".

Lessons & tips: Find someone to play with, it gets boring playing the computer after awhile.
