How to run a 5k
"I was thrilled to just cross the finish line, but coming in 2 minutes under my goal time was fantastic."
How I did it: Followed a simple training plan from Runner's World that took me to a 5k in baby steps. The program started out with just walking 2 minutes and then running 2 minutes and went all the way up to a 5k in 8 weeks. I also improved my diet and started attending more exercise classes.
Lessons & tips: Don't overdo it. If you're not a runner, don't expect to be able to do it for long periods of time every morning. Judge your limitations and expand them as you improve.
