How to lEARN TO COOK FROM SCRATCH
How I did it: I was in the Asian grocery store when I saw dumpling wrappers and frozen lumpia (Filipino mini eggrolls) and decided to make some. I called my mom for all the ingredients:
1 lb Pork Loin
30 Eggroll wrappers
1 Garlic clove
Vegetable oil for frying and saute
French cut green beans and chop in small pieces. Finely grate one bowl of carrots.
Add oil to a wok and cook pork until no longer pink, set aside. Saute green beans, carrots, and sprouts with onion and garlic. Add pork and some fish sauce, stir. Drain.
Use 2 wrappers per eggroll to avoid tears when frying. Crack an egg and take out the yolk, you only need the egg white.
Place 2 tablespoons or however much filling you want diagonally on a wrapper. Fold sides inward, and roll up, use egg white to seal the edge. Repeat.
Pour oil into the wok halfway. Slide prewrapped lumpia and fry until brown. Turning them over to check for doneness.
Tastes awesomely with vinegar and garlic.
Lessons & tips: For god's sake, thaw the meat if it's frozen.
