How I did it: Well, I called Planned Parenthood and set up an appointment with the very nice lady who answered the phone.  This part was easy.  Then, I freaked out for two days..  Then I got on the bus, walked in, filled out a bunch of forms and put my feet in those stirrups.

Lessons & tips: It was WAY easier than I had thought.  The doctor was nice and made it easy and it was SO fast.  Also, if you are worried about cost (as I was) there are ways to do it relatively cheaply.  I'm sure it depends on your state, but at least in the state of Oregon it was free with my limited income.  Planned Parenthood had also given me a reduced rate and it would have cost around $100 to just get an exam, which is a lot, but mostly doable..
