How to be happy
How I did it: To me, happiness is love.
I've never been a truly unhappy person. Of course, I had my ups and downs, like everyone else on this planet! But I've never been depressed. I grew up, had fun with my friends, had boyfriends, finished high school: I had many moments of joy and happiness, and there were times that I felt really great and invincible.
But there was one thing that I had never felt yet: love, true love. Yeah, I love my parents and my closest friends a lot and I would do anything for them. But true love, as in 'love'? For a man? The kind of love you see in 'Titanic'? No... the guys I dated, were all worthless and they each gave me a broken heart. But I didn't really love them... the reason I cried back then, was because someone dumped me, not because I loved them so. I was just in love. That is something very different.
Anyways, I tried not to think too much about it. I had confidence in finding a great man that I could truly love passionately and be happy with. And then he came... I still can't believe it. I'm not going into details here, because our lovestory is so beautiful that I like keeping it to myself. (Probably I'll change my mind later, haha.)
But I'll tell you this: the moment that I felt true love from both sides, I became happy, just ridiculously happy. And ever since I met my boyfriend, I haven't stopped being happy. It's such a great feeling: just to know that you have someone by your side for the rest of your life. Ahh... I can't explain it :) I walk down the street with my head high. I smile to people. I'm... happy.
Lessons & tips: Have confidence!
And don't forget: happiness is hidden in very small things. It's a cliché, but it's so true.
