How I did it: After my dream summer job fell through, I began applying to many other positions. I wanted to stay in Victoria for the summer, which limited my options (as previously I had worked in Vancouver in the summertime - a city with more co-op opportunities).

For this position, as with all jobs, it helped to research the job so that my personalized cover letter could talk about the institution briefly, and so that I could tailor my resume to best fit this job opportunity.

Lessons & tips: Only apply for the jobs you want, but make sure you're applying to many different places. This isn't contradictory advice - just means you need to look in many different places.
