How to read more
How I did it: I found things that were interesting to me and read. When I got bored, I didn't force myself to keep reading and instead found something else.
What always turned me off about reading was that half way through a book I'd become disinterested no matter how quickly or slowly I read it. Instead, I simply skipped to a shorter story in the middle of a novel and now I'm going back to the novel... eventually.
Lessons & tips: It's easier to start out reading smaller things. News articles online
(or The Onion, if news is boring), The Brother's Grimm Fairy Tales,
some forums online, anything you can find really. So long as it sparks your interest then why not read it? It gets easier and easier to find things and you become aware of what you like reading more.
I mentioned before, I didn't force myself to read. That could possibly be the worst thing to do. It becomes very un-enjoyable to sit there staring at words. So if you start to get bored half way through a novel, try setting it down and switching stories. If you don't want to go back to the other novel why bother?
