How I did it: Since I was not able to find design work that was satisfying to me, I left my soul-sucking, dull design job and started my own business, publishing a magazine. Having all the creative control and implementing my artistic visions is a lot more satisfying than working for someone else. Sure, sometimes the subject matter is not something I am passionate about, and I still have to deal with clients' opinions, but the direction & style of magazine is all up to me.

Update: It has gone very badly....very, very badly. I regret it all... :(((((
