How I did it: I am not an IT person and did not get work in the IT industry but I have good experience. I worked as a temp and then got a permanent job. Which I hated. So I went back to temping. Now I have left NZ so I will have to find work again!
I enrolled with lots of temp agencies and searched online job websites and let all my friends know I was looking for work. In fact I would mention it to anyone who spoke to me including shopworkers!
Lessons & tips: Tell EVERYONE you are looking for work even people you meet on the street. Answer signs in shop windows. Butt in on overheard conversations if they are about employment!
