How I did it: I keep a small folding bag in my purse for unexpected purchases and some green shopper bags in the boot of my car. I made some nice fabric bags for shopping with and use containers for sandwiches and lunches.

Lessons & tips: Keep a really lightweight spare bag on you, in your daily bag or car. Tell the check-out person before they even start swiping those barcodes that you would like to use your own bags please. It helps if you have the standard sized reuseable shopping bags for them to pack.

Resources: Green reusable shopping bags and granny-style shopping trolleys. But I also enjoyed using a hand-crocheted jute bag and walking home with my vegetables and breadstick poking out of the bag. Mmm! Very French!
