How I did it: We planned to go to Mt. Baldy. You just show up there with some money (around 80 $s) for the ski-lift ticket+snowboard rental+snowboard lesson.
The hard part is getting enough troops to go with you. If you're the type who can take the initiative and motivate others, that helps.
Lessons & tips: You have to be ready to follow the instructors advise.
Be in the moment, be open to falling down, it's snow, it doesn't hurt that much.
Be prepared to be exhausted and soar for next whole week.
