How to dance like no one is watching
How I did it: I'm not sure if my experience could be helpful to you as my case was quite specific.
When I was a child and a teenager, I adored dancing. Dancing used to
make me feel so good about myself and eager to live. While dancing, I
used to forget about everything and just feel the rhythm. It has something to do with endorphins and levels of adrenalin, but I used to feel so enormous joy of life that made me strong and brave to live to the fullest.
I gained much weight during the past couple of years (about 40 lbs). I could blame my pregnancy and staying at home after giving birth, but I know what the main reason was - sitting in front of the PC all of my awake time. I started to perceive my body having such unpleasant look that I stopped doing anything that could attract somebody's attention to it - including dancing.I think the ideal weight to a person is the weight that doesn't prevent one from doing the activities they adore - like dancing, or swimming, or going out. Or anything else.
Recently I realized I missed dancing a lot. So I needed to start doing it again. I started dancing while nobody's watching (actually), at the same time pretending that there are other people watching me who don't mind. At first my moves were a sort of stiff, but eventually I became bolder. Until I felt confident enough to start dancing in front of my husband, my mother, grandmother, sister, brother etc.
I'm not sure if I'll dare to dance while anybody's watching, but at least I took the first steps.
Lessons & tips: When you are alone, you could start dancing at the same time visualizing there are many people watching. Until you reach the state you dance bold enough and you don't care if there's somebody watching or not.
