How to study in Canada
How I did it: Most universities in the UK have study abroad programmes for thier students (in fact one of the main reasons for applying to Keele was that it would allow me to do two). I applied in my first year to spend a semester of my second year abroad after I had decided between studying in the Netherlands or Quebec.
I would recommend this to most students, you need to be more focused than if you were just staying at home as it can be easy to become distracted, but it is so rewarding.
Studying in Canada lead to me having friends from all over the world (many of whom were french and who I now see a lot as I am living in France), visting Boston and spending New Years Eve in New York, and roadtripping through mountains and over frozen fjords while discovering Canada with new friends.
Do it, study abroad!
Lessons & tips: To ensure a place, work hard in all of your courses to show that you would be able to cope studying in a new country/language. Try and show a link between your subjects and where you would like to study (French and English degree = studying in bilingual Quebec).
Once there avoid the urge to spend all your time with people from your own country, really get involved in the new place.
