How to learn martial arts
How I did it: I joined a shutokan karate dojo with a friend on the recommendation of yet another friend and attended a women's class regularly working my way up through the levels until I finally tested for and passed my black belt test. It takes time, for sure, but it was nice that I was one of two women in the whole class that were in class because we chose it as "me time" and not because our kids happen to be taking class at the same time.
Lessons & tips: Stick with it. It takes time to achieve mastery of anything. Just like the old "how do you eat an elephant?" answer: "One bite at a time", martial arts skills are achieved through practice and time.
