aznarob is enjoying life
Congrats
Since its been a few months since you started using GTD, I wanted to know is the system easy to maintain.
Mixed Feelings
Interestingly, I’m having a terrible time with this. I think this is more of an issue of how much stuff I balance in my life.
I have a super-demanding day job and am also working to start a business. I struggle most with keeping up with the email, which GTD is great for.
It helps to have a standard to strive to, though I will admit that it’s a ton of hard work just maintaining GTD when you’re in a situation like mine.
Hope that helps!
Feelings Getting Better
So I stumbled across this thread after a hiatus from 43things. Now I will say that I love GTD.
At the end of the book, David Allen suggests that you read the book again after working with GTD for a while. I will agree solidly that it is a “different book” going through it a 2nd time after having lived with it for a while.
The biggest thing that I was missing in my first go-round was the Weekly Review. It makes a HUGE different to set aside an hour a two a week to tie together loose ends, check to see if anything fell through the cracks, and process my inboxes. Otherwise, the system degrades until it finally reaches chaos.
Not having the super-demanding job anymore helps too. That job sucked the life out of me. I’ve lost 30 pounds since then just from not being so stressed out and sad anymore.
