How I did it: I needed to find a roomate, so I just started asking around. I got a few offers, and then just thought about who I felt I would get along best with in a small living environment.
Lessons & tips: Just don't pick someone who's living habits are drastically different from yours. If they like to stay up all night when you need your sleep or if they're uber messy and you're OCD, then maybe they aren't a good choice.
Resources: Just other friends and word of mouth. Oh, and facebook.
