How I did it: I live in the middle of nowhere, so buying and pitching a tent seemed like the right thing to do at the time. It was giggling and telling spooky stories with my friends - until the cat jumped on the top of the tent. It scared us so bad, I cannot believe we finished out the night.

if you live in a populated area, make sure no one can get inside your tent uninvited
