How to become fluent in Italian
How I did it: I studied Italian for 2 years in high school and 2 years at university. I also studied abroad for a semester in Rome. I was also very motivated to learn the language, so I tried to learn from every available source: novels, films, random encounters with people in the street.
Lessons & tips: To really become fluent you need to be immersed in the language. Go to Italy and force yourself to converse with locals. Yes, you will make mistakes. Yes, in a few situations you will look downright foolish. But you will learn 3 times more than what you would have learned otherwise.
Resources: Textbooks, classes, and shamelessness.
