How to quit Smoking
How I did it: I went to an anti-smoking center. They use a treatment called ototherapy, meaning a treatment on the ear bulbs. It does not hurt and I only had one session of 20 minutes. I
It helped me with the cope with many of the withdrawal symptoms. Still I was a smoker for 10 years, so I had to battle the habit of smoking by myself.
It took me 2 weeks to get smoking out of my head, and I am now smoke free for 5 months and plan to stay that way.
I promised myself I will not smoke another cigarette ever again
Lessons & tips: My biggest fear as a smoker was that when I quit I will not be able to enjoy a meal, or a drink or a night out. This is so not true. When you quit smoking, after a while you will not be thinking of cigarettes anymore and you will be able to enjoy everything just fine!
Some tips and tricks that helped me:
- Declare yourself a non - smoker. Keep repeating that you will not have another cigarette.EVER
- Get rid of all of your cigarettes. Do not keep a pack available "just in case"
- If you live with smokers, ask them to help you by not making their cigarettes available to you
- At first, try to avoid situations that you have linked with smoking (like going to a night club)
- Try to remember that smoking is not a solution to your problems, but another problem by itself.
- Congratulate yourself for every day you stay off smoking!!
