How to tithe
How I did it: Last Fall, I moved from California into my dorm at Baylor University. Since then, I've gotten a job and stayed in contact with my old church. The connection those two have? I always felt like I should tithe, but never took the time to do it.
So yesterday, I went online, checked my payroll, and wrote a check for 10% of everything I've earned since I got my job at GearUp. Then I just mailed it in to my church with a small note saying what it was.
Now I feel like I've actually contributed something to my church other than time. Something that's more "adult" than just attending services. Something that will actually help out!
Lessons & tips: Just DO it! Tithing is one of those things we're taught in church, but sometimes assume that it isn't very important. Well, it IS! Churches need our support, and, more importantly, we need to recognize that the gifts God has given us are not ONLY for our personal use. We should be using them to help others, too! That's what tithing reminds me of.
