How to landscape the back yard
"Tiring, but really satisfying"
How I did it: The design was done when we first moved into the house three years ago, but it remained a field of weeds for a while. Then we put in some turf and a couple of garden beds. For a while we just watched the weeds grow.
Then we finally got around to inviting some friends over, putting weedmat down, laying mulch around the trees and gravel around the paths.
Lessons & tips: "Western Topping" is a great gravel for paths. It's loose and easy to move. Then when it rains it packs down really hard. I assume there's clay in there.
If your garden supply store doesn't call it "Western Topping", the stones are up to 3, maybe 4mm diameter. Then there's a clay sand with it.
Describe the above effect and they'll offer advice :-D
