How to watch less tv

Thanks for your comment

Nowadays, we only watch DVDs and occasionally some TV, but we don’t stare listlessly, and it’s so much better. When the program we wanted to watch finishes, we turn the TV off, and mostly read.

As for texting while in your company…rant all you want, I’ll listen :)

This is down right awful.
Luckily, I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who would behave like this, but I think you made the best choice by walking out of that restaurant, I would have done the same. I actually think it’s quite sad, to be always afraid of missing out on something, instead of enjoying the here and now. These people are in fact missing out on their very life.

You reminded me of a vacation I took some years ago – I went to an island with my sister and her husband and told all my friends I’d be gone for 10 days and will have my phone switched off, and gave them an “emergency” phone number. I asked them to respect my need for privacy and rest, and they all agreed.
When I came back home, there were tons of messages and voice mails, and many frowning faces. They felt insulted and rejected! Of course, they didn’t care that I felt smothered and disrespected. Needless to say, I choose my friends more carefully these days :)
