How I did it: I took a good, long, hard look at the power structures that make up Western society, and I was displeased. Enraged, even. I wanted to hurt people, or hurt myself, but I redirected that anger and disgust to something more productive.

Lessons & tips: Question everything, examine relations between the sexes, look at who's in charge and who benefits, look at the colorful and multitudinous guises of the patriarchy and spit on them.
