How to visit Iowa
How I did it: For too long I had grown apart from my younger brother and decided that I needed to spend time with him. We coordinated the date and I made the long drive from Maryland to Vinton, Iowa where he resides.
We had a great time. Visited all sorts of Iowa stuff including a giant frying pan, a baseball game, tended wild grapes, crushed grapes, enjoyed adult beverages, chatted, listened to the rain, exchanged memories of youth. All the everyday stuff that isn't shared if you are not physically close.
Lessons & tips: It is not about the where, it is about the who. Life is far, far to short to pass up on opportunities to share love with those you care about.
