"It just feels so good that I can help people and their economies with such a small amount of $."
How I did it: I've always been intersted in microlending, and was exstatic when I stumbled across www.kiva.org. It's such a great organization, and allows you to choose where your money goes. It does not gain interest, so it's absolutely not a way to invest your hard earned dollars. But, it's an investment in human lives. I only spent $100, and was able to help 4 people on 4 different continents with their small business companies.
Lessons & tips: There is some risk involved, and you might not get your money back. When you find someone you are interested in lending to, read about their Field Partner. Is it up to your standards for lending? If so, consider lending to that person.
