How to get back into photography

How I did it: I took a photography course in university and loved it (this was before digital was popular). Promised myself that I would one day buy an SLR. However, 4 years passed and I was too worried about having an expensive piece of equipment when traveling.
Now i'm learning how to use the bloody thing again.
Lessons & tips: At first I felt like only really good photographers should buy and SLR, but it doesn't matter how good you are, as long as you enjoy what you do.
Ask a friend who's into photography before buying... I tended to dislike the advice of the shop staff.
